Hearing Tests

Start Your Journey to Your Best Hearing

Hearing loss commonly begins with hearing impairment for tones and speech in upper frequencies, such as the voice of women & children. Does this sound familiar? Hearing loss is one the most common chronic conditions among adults in the U.S. and since hearing loss is gradual and can sneak up on you, it’s important to get your hearing tested & stay aware of your hearing health!

To understand the degree of your hearing loss, we test tones and speech at all frequencies. Results are documented on an audiogram, a graph that shows what sounds you’re hearing and what sounds you’re missing. While you wear headphones, the pure tone audiometry test play tones at different frequencies. All you have to do is indicate if you’ve heard the tone. A speech evaluation test determines how well you hear normal conversation at various volumes. Finally, tests are conducted to measure the performance of the auditory nerve and test the eardrum for responsiveness to sound vibrations

Hearing Better Leads to Living Better

Troubleshooting your hearing aids: Are they on? Turn up the volume. Check/replace batteries. Have you attempted all of the above? Hearing aids still not working? It may be time to bring them in to Hearing Center of Hawaii for a check, repair & maintenance issues to look out for to include volume fluctuation, on-going static and feedback, sounds cutting in and out, whistling, surface damage (e.g. cracks or holes) poor fit & discomfort. We are trained to assess & repair hearing aids and refit them so that you get the best listening experience. Again, we recommend that you call us to schedule a drop off (soon as same day business hours) to bring your malfunctioning aids in to us, rather than take them apart yourself, as this may unwittingly cause further damage. Based on the problems and malfunctions, we’ll be able to give you an estimate of the repair time.
